MADDELA, QUIRINO – DOST 02 thru the Provincial Science and Technology Center (DOST-PSTC) Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Team Quirino conducts assessment to 3 MSMEs for SETUP 2019 in Maddela, Quirino on July 1, 2019.

DOST PSTC Quirino staff Ms. Daisy D. Simon – Science Research Specialist II spearheads the TNA team assisted by Ms. Lhea V.Seculles, Mr. Nelson C. Calimag and Mr. Jonathan De Jesus as members to validate and assess the business process and procedures to be improved and identify equipments needed to increase the productivity level of the firm.

Technology Needs Assessment is a mandatory activity undertaken for proper identification of innovation system support (ISS). The result of the assessment will determine the technology to be transferred or adopted and will be funded under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgraded Program (SETUP). The MSMEs interviewed and inspected are Aldine’s Water Refilling Station, Lumauig Piggery Farm and Lhanz Purified Water and Refilling Station.

During the inspection and interview the TNA team carefully discussed the SETUP project and the purpose of the on-site visit. Ms. Simon mentioned the objectives of the program and procedures how to avail SETUP.

SETUP is a financial assistance with 0% interest. It is a nationwide strategy to encourage MSMEs to adopt technological innovations and improve their productivity and competitiveness. This enables the business owners to acquire equipment to improve quality of service or products. The project also helps the business owners upgrade their skills through series of trainings.
